The final round brought the Fried Chicken Sandwich to the table, leaving me immensely happy as being one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever tried. I enjoyed the combination of cooked banana and walnuts on top adding more depth and texture to the whole dish. By utilizing banana bread, each bite sang with deliciousness that kept my taste buds interested without fatigue. The first bites surprised me with a strong hit of cinnamon that was quickly mellowed out by the creamy rich sauces. Bananas Foster French Toast At Duoįrench toast is a brunch staple, and I can confidently say that Duo’s Bananas Foster French Toast is my favorite French Toast in Denver. Cutting into that egg yolk made everything better mixing nicely into every portion of the benedict adding that extra oomph to send every bite over the top. The first bites were angelic, with bursts of acid from the mustard cream sauce and unctuousness from the pork and collard greens. Braised pork sat on collard greens, grilled ciabatta, topped with two poached eggs and a mustard cream sauce. The Cider Pork Benedict looked plain, but the taste is all that mattered. My wife and I went to brunch with a ravenous appetite, so we dove straight into three amazing entrees. Nestled on Zuni Street on the west side of I25, walking into Duo felt like a small neighborhood restaurant with enough seating to feel popular but small enough to feel like Denver’s best kept secret. Partnering with Colorado farmers, Duo is a farm to table restaurant with seasonally changing menus that highlight the produce and ingredients…and their brunch in banging. The creole seasoned chicken crunched nicely while the chorizo gravy worked its magic with the runny egg yolk creating a sauce of the gods that covered everything in creamy bliss. Is your mouth drooling yet? This is by far one of the BEST brunch dishes I’ve ever eaten.
Chicken Biscuits and Gravy At Ophelia’sīecause it was so tempting, I decided on the Chicken Biscuits and Gravy, a buttermilk biscuit topped with a fried chicken thigh, sunny side egg, and smothered with chorizo gravy. The harissa honey elevated the dish with a unique flare that added another layer to the whole flavor profile. I LOVE chicken and waffles and Ophelia’s created a brilliant version where the ultra crispy chicken thigh and buttermilk waffle soaked up the apple butter and harissa honey for a life changing savory/sweet duo. My wife ordered the Chicken and Buttermilk Waffle which came with a crispy chicken thigh, black pepper bacon, slaw, apple butter, and harissa honey. Tangy, slightly sweet, and completely perfect, the cornbread tasted superb with the goat cheese and marmalade mixed together for a refreshing combo. First, we ordered the Roasted Green Chili Cornbread that came sliced and lightly toasted topped with goat cheese, green tomato marmalade, and whipped honey butter. Unfortunately, my wife and I weren’t here to get an afternoon buzz, so we jumped right into the food. Ophelia’s energetic atmosphere came alive from the thumping tunes and the resounding laughter of happy diners enjoying their bottomless mimosas.
